Fayette County is in northern Iowa. It is named for Gilbert du Motier, Marquis de Lafayette.
The seat is West Union, while the largest city is Oelwein.
It is served by US-18, IA-3, IA-56, IA-93 and IA-150.
It is bordered by Allamakee, Black Hawk, Buchanan, Bremer, Chickasaw and Clayton Counties.
